Rise and shine, survivor!

I opened my eyes to find myself alone, abandoned in the desert. My immediate surroundings seemed calm enough, as nothing was moving in my vicinity. That's probably why I came to instead of getting devoured. Oh yeah, it's the zombie apocalypse. Did I forget to mention that? I may be suffering from short term memory loss, but that is one thing I didn't forget. I found a small box of survival items left on my person, as well as a note recommending I find the local trader. Since I couldn't remember any other mission I might have been on prior to my dirt nap I decided to work on that.

I started to gather a few basic resources, wood, iron, plant fibers, all the feathers I could possibly get my hands on. Even though my memory of the past is fuzzy, I did remember that feathers are integral to making arrows, and arrows allow me to fight zombies from further away. I'll take any advantage I can get. I made myself some basic tools out of scrap iron; a pickaxe, axe, and shovel, as well as a bow and some arrows. Just as I was starting to feel a little more prepared I ran into my first (sort of?? I can't remember how many I killed before) zombie. I gave him a good bludgeoning, and lo and behold that bastard had a shotgun and five shells on him. A fantastic start! It might not be much ammo, but I'll take whatever I can find.

I found the entrance to the trader soon after. Fortunately he was still open and willing to meet with me. He said he'd never seen me before, so it was a bit of a dead end when it came to trying to jog my memory. He had some nice items to trade, but since I basically had nothing to offer him in return I decided to mark his location on my map and come back another time. I hope he makes it that long. There are fewer and fewer of us left with every day that passes.
